WHAT IS THE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE?
The Greater Derry Londonderry Chamber of Commerce is an independent, nonprofit, and nonpartisan business advocacy organization made up of voluntary members from the business community.
Members invest their time and money to further their collective interests, while advancing our community, region, and state. Through this network, businesses are able to advocate on behalf of the community at large, economic prosperity, and business interests.
The Chamber helps create job opportunities through stimulation of commercial and industrial growth. It supports the business community by providing: Exposure through advertising, promotion, and visibility; the Impact of a “collective voice” regarding issues that affect your business; Education through professional development and information necessary for success; and Referrals of only member businesses and their products and services through our office, website, and local visitor’s center.
HOW DOES A CHAMBER WORK?
The work of the the Greater Derry Londonderry Chamber of Commerce is funded through the investment of the members (dues and sponsorships) which supports the development of programs and initiatives that positively impact local business and industry. The Chamber is NOT a government agency, nor is it affiliated with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. The organization does not receive any federal, state, county or town funding. A local business does NOT automatically attain membership through location or by association. It is a voluntary membership with paid dues, similar to other professional organizations and networking groups.
In exchange for the member investment, the Chamber provides opportunities for visibility, education, advocacy and a “collective voice.” While many communities throughout America, and even around the world, have a Chamber of Commerce, each Chamber is unique in both the services that it offers and the businesses it represents.
